Motswaledi roots for Fish in Maun East

01 Jul 2014

Maun East constituents have been urged to vote for the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) parliamentary candidate, Mr Osimilwe Fish.

Speaking at the launch of the parliamentary candidate and 11 council candidates in Maun on June 28, UDC secretary general, Mr Gomolemo Motswaledi said people should vote for Mr Fish since it would be good for them and the future of the country.

Mr Motswaledi said there were only two options for the Maun East voters, “to vote for the same individuals who have been in power and continue with sorrow and lack of provision of basic needs like electricity and water, while the Thamalakane River is always flowing.”

The other option, he said, was voting UDC for change as people would realise change in quality education, transparent government and happy families. In regard to education, he said the current school facilities were mainly dilapidated.

The party’s Ghanzi North parliamentary candidate, Mr Noah Salakae said that Mr Fish, who is a teacher by profession, was a warrior at heart.

He informed the Maun East constituents that Mr Fish, who was a former University of Botswana student representative council president, as well as member of Trainers and Allied Workers Union (TAWU), was capable to deliver in whatever capacity they deemed suitable.

Mr Salakae said they should not be confused by the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) Maun East candidate, Mr Goretetse Kekgonegile, let alone the Botswana Democratic Party candidate, Mr Kosta Markus.

In his remarks, Mr Fish promised voters that if voted into power in October, UDC would provide quality education and that land allocation process would be expedited as compared to the current government.

Kgatleng West MP, Mr Gilbert Mangole said implored the constituents to vote UDC, adding that Maun West MP, Mr Tawana Moremi needed a helper in parliament to represent the Maun region to speak on issues of tourism, wildlife and Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).

He said their manifesto had a robust stand on education, adding that if Maun people voted UDC, they would see the establishment of Maun tourism school of excellence. ENDS
